Golden State Valkyries sit at a crossroads — and Garrett and Brian Gonzales break it all down on Podhalla, BSPN's Golden State Valkyries podcast. In this episode, they debate what tier the Valkyries are actually in after dropping games to the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces while taking down the Atlanta Dream. From there, the guys dig into what position Golden State needs to fill most to become a legitimate contender, how the Valkyries can develop Juste without sacrificing wins in a competitive WNBA landscape, and why there's so much physicality in the WNBA and if the referees are able to handle it.

Last Time Out

Golden State topped Atlanta 77-66 on Wednesday night behind a dominant performance from Gabby Williams, who stuffed the stat sheet with 23 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two stocks. Kayla Thornton added 17 points and five three-pointers, while Cecilia Zandalasini chipped in 14 points and four triples. The Valkyries made 15 threes to just four for the Dream, outscoring Atlanta by 33 points from behind the arc, and led by as many as 26 with a decisive 22-9 second-quarter surge.

Revenge Game: Will Atlanta's Stars Answer?

The Dream boast one of only two WNBA tandems averaging 19-plus points per game, with Allisha Gray (19.5 PPG) and Rhyne Howard (19.1 PPG) leading the charge. Golden State's defense — ranked third in the league with a 103.6 defensive rating — largely neutralized them Wednesday. The big storyline tonight is whether Gray and Howard can find their rhythm against the Valkyries' suffocating scheme, or if Golden State can run away with the series.
