10 [SPEAKER_00]: welcome back to Thompson the Clark and also welcome back to Brad. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, back to vacation. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we were gone. [SPEAKER_01]: We took multiple vacations. [SPEAKER_01]: I think the last time we did a show we had not. [SPEAKER_01]: We had not had dinner yet in San Jose. [SPEAKER_01]: That's how long it's been. [SPEAKER_01]: And then yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then we had dinner at the old spaghetti factory while we were down here for our Bruno Mars trip. [SPEAKER_00]: And was it as memorable as it was when we were going there a lot being college students? [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it was enjoyable.

52 [SPEAKER_01]: I forgot. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I ate out of my element. [SPEAKER_01]: because I'm supposed to be good with all heart things, but you know, I want a little crazy that night. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was good because I was with good company. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm glad you guys can make it out and that was fun way to get time. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think we had a man hat and right? [SPEAKER_01]: I think we had a hat and a hat and a hat and a set. [SPEAKER_01]: Those were pretty good. [SPEAKER_01]: They did a pretty good job. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we had a Manhattan, and I was thinking, because Thanksgiving is around the corner. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And we're hosting Thanksgiving, and we usually we go and we get, we buy dinner, we don't actually make the turkey, we just kind of buy it, so we'd have to worry about it.

36 [SPEAKER_00]: And so we've gone to Whole Foods, and we've ordered there, we've gone to a couple of different places, Costco, I think was last year. [SPEAKER_00]: Because I don't want to go to like a place that specializes in barbecue. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, that doesn't mean we're getting ribs and stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: We're still going to get the normal turkey, but just something different. [SPEAKER_00]: Just let's go to a restaurant. [SPEAKER_00]: They can cater it and we'll do that. [SPEAKER_00]: So we went to the smoking pig and made our order. [SPEAKER_00]: It's all sending out invites to the people who are coming over. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, we'll make this. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll make this. [SPEAKER_00]: My stepson is going to make mac and cheese. [SPEAKER_00]: And I have stuff for cocktails. [SPEAKER_00]: And not that I didn't read to realize this, but I'm such a bourbon person.

21 [SPEAKER_00]: I think people just realize that when I say, I'm making cocktails. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like they're gonna be like a man hat and or something like that, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It's not like I'm busting out. [SPEAKER_00]: GMTs or Moscow Mules or Lemon Drops, right. [SPEAKER_00]: So I realize that when I say I'm making cocktails, it's like, okay, it's going to be like one or two things. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, no, I get you and speaking of bourbon, so yes, so we did the big trip. [SPEAKER_01]: for our 25 year anniversary we just got back like three days ago. [SPEAKER_01]: My body clock is still in New Orleans and then we got home on a Friday and then we're here Saturday for Halloween and then the time change.

05 [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, my body clock is like, I don't even know where it's at. [SPEAKER_01]: Normans was a blast. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know anybody is listening. [SPEAKER_01]: If you've ever been there before, you know how much of a blast it is. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a nice city all around. [SPEAKER_01]: You hear, you know, obviously in the news, you can hear all these bad things because it's a, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's one of those cities that's politicized, just because it's a it's a blue city. [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, they're going to politicize it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and in the past they had, you know, police corruption. [SPEAKER_01]: There were all kinds of messy stuff and after Katrina, the money, we're all that went. [SPEAKER_01]: But [SPEAKER_01]: you don't see any of that when you're in the city and you're in the French quarter and you're hanging out and and and I had my fair share of sassaracs now to to me before going to New Orleans and doing the research sassarac is just [SPEAKER_01]: the sassarac rye whisked right though, right?

01 [SPEAKER_01]: You just go to the store and you buy a bottle of sassarac. [SPEAKER_01]: It's 90 proof and you have a drink and you porting with some ice and you're good. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't know what a sassarac was and be it an old fashion fan. [SPEAKER_01]: and a fan of, you know, Monty Carlos and Manhattan's, it peaked my interest. [SPEAKER_01]: So I had my first sazirac drink. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna call them out because it wasn't very good, and I hope they make it better next time. [SPEAKER_01]: The Napoleon House on Sunday, we got there on Saturday, so Sunday had my first sazirac, [SPEAKER_01]: And it was at the Napoleon House, the food was fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: I had a fried catfish poboy with a sassarac.

45 [SPEAKER_01]: And it wasn't very good. [SPEAKER_01]: So I thought, oh man, I hope this isn't what the drink is like. [SPEAKER_00]: Then we went around the rest of the city. [SPEAKER_00]: And everybody else made a fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: It's basically, you put a little in either absent or an absent is making a comeback. [SPEAKER_01]: It was illegal for a while, and in New Orleans, you couldn't get it because the proof is so high, but it's making a comeback in the city. [SPEAKER_01]: So you put a little absent or some herb saint in there, which is like an unease, the core licorice, kind of that licorice that black licorice. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not a fan of black licorice, right? [SPEAKER_01]: I can't. [SPEAKER_01]: We got an absence while we're there. [SPEAKER_01]: Just straight absent at a really nice jazz bar.

26 [SPEAKER_01]: It was tough to drink, but we thought we had to try this. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to split it up and see how it goes. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not a fan of black lurker, so it was hard to get down. [SPEAKER_01]: But you put it in the glass, you rinse it around and then you dump it out. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's got to got that a little bit of the smell, a little bit of the flavor. [SPEAKER_01]: Then you put in SAS RECRI and they make it with 100 proof. [SPEAKER_01]: There is 100 proof bottles out there. [SPEAKER_01]: I think total line here in Reno carries them. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm going to pick some of that up. [SPEAKER_01]: and then a little bit of a pay-shot bidders and they're kind of specialty bidders and throw that on the glass and you start up and put a little I think garnish it with a lemon grind and it is a [SPEAKER_01]: It's a small drink, but it is fantastic, and so I'm going to go ahead and start making some of those here at home.

20 [SPEAKER_01]: There you go. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very easy to do. [SPEAKER_00]: I had my fair share, and but we did a lot of other cool things in New Orleans like that. [SPEAKER_01]: The old Pharmacy Museum, which was creepy as hell, but lots of fun. [SPEAKER_01]: We did a vampire and ghost voodoo night time, 21 and over, only walking tour. [SPEAKER_01]: Stopped into a couple of bars, that was kind of fun. [SPEAKER_01]: And then we did the Sazerac house tour where they first started making Sazerac in the city and we'll kind of walk around and check out all the cool stuff there. [SPEAKER_01]: So we just had a blast, it was great. [SPEAKER_01]: And the food, I can't even, I mean, [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't live there with heart disease because it's, you know, all of the etu-fay and the po-boys and everything else, the French bread is everywhere.

10 [SPEAKER_01]: They bring you a loaf of French bread to your table. [SPEAKER_01]: No matter what it is, you're eating. [SPEAKER_01]: Because you're gonna have to stop it up. [SPEAKER_01]: So the etu-fae, the jambalaya, everything. [SPEAKER_01]: I had to stop it up. [SPEAKER_01]: So I quite a bit of French bread while I was there. [SPEAKER_01]: It was always soft, always warm, always crunchy on the outside. [SPEAKER_01]: And we just had a great time. [SPEAKER_01]: The trip was just fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: One of our favorite cities, or we're definitely going to be going back there. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think we're going to do our adabab grab some pine meat segment. [SPEAKER_00]: Are you still going to theme it to New Orleans or are you guys?

50 [SPEAKER_00]: I am. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: I am because, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: the brewers won the world series. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think we care a whole lot. [SPEAKER_01]: Like the Tampa Bay race. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if we cared about that either. [SPEAKER_01]: They've had the games on and some of the bars and restaurants we went into. [SPEAKER_01]: One screen would be the world series and the other one would be football. [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody really, you know, sat there and watched the world series in New Orleans. [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody. [SPEAKER_00]: New Orleans is not a big baseball town. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they don't have a baseball team. [SPEAKER_01]: They used to have a triple A team. [SPEAKER_01]: The New Orleans baby cakes back in the day, but when they consolidated minor league baseball, they ditched them. [SPEAKER_01]: So they're gone. [SPEAKER_01]: But we see how the state have a good baseball team.

32 [SPEAKER_01]: They've got a good baseball and good softball teams. [SPEAKER_01]: Very good. [SPEAKER_01]: So you saw a lot of LSU gear everywhere. [SPEAKER_01]: I did see a lot of Tulane University gear everywhere. [SPEAKER_01]: We actually took a little trolley down to the Tulane area, because there's a beautiful park down there, kind of walked around, and saw just on St. Charles Avenue. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's just a main street, and I swear every house was a mansion. [SPEAKER_01]: It was absolutely ridiculous, but fun to walk by and check everything out. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, the games were just so so I work we're doing the segment of, uh, you know, adabab and grab some pine meat and uh, I'm going to team it around the city because I'd never been there before.

17 [SPEAKER_01]: So I wanted to give us some props and kind of knock them down just a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't keep it on the baseball, but you do, you go ahead and do it the way. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but go ahead. [SPEAKER_00]: So start with your adababab. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my adabab was just how welcoming this city was in general. [SPEAKER_01]: I, you know, we'd never been to the South before. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been to South Carolina one time years ago on my own, but the wife and I had never been to the South and and the hospital, the Southern Hospitality is absolutely no joke. [SPEAKER_01]: everybody was very friendly, very warm, very welcoming. [SPEAKER_01]: Every shop we went into, every restaurant, every bar, every tour we took. [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody was just fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: It was such a cheerful city to be in.

01 [SPEAKER_00]: And the cool thing is, and so we didn't really walk down, you know, bourbon street is the big thing, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: we didn't have a single drink on Bourbon Street because it was very much a college atmosphere and it was the week before Halloween so you could walk down there and people were in costumes and all that and the drinks you go in you get the grenade you get the the famous hurricane which we did get a hurricane but we got it from Mr. Ed's Oysterbar and it was good but it's just it's drinking a cup of sugar [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it really wasn't the greatest thing, but but they do sanitize the streets. [SPEAKER_01]: Every morning at like four or five a.m. they have these things that go up and down the streets with that just blow out this sanitizer soap and stuff that hits every street, every sidewalk.

49 [SPEAKER_01]: So when I'd get up in the morning around eight or nine to go get coffee, I'd walk down the street. [SPEAKER_01]: I walk like 304 blocks to go get a cup of coffee at this cool pirate [SPEAKER_01]: And the streets were like sanitized and it smelled good and it was really nice. [SPEAKER_01]: It's because of everything that goes on the night before. [SPEAKER_01]: But that's my adabay that's the that welcoming and and how actually clean the city is. [SPEAKER_00]: So we'll stay with base. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll give it a reverse. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, like you, I didn't pay super close attention though. [SPEAKER_00]: The first two games were really close baseball games. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: The, um, [SPEAKER_00]: You know, you have to give him gift give the reverse credit because not only did they knock off the Dodgers, which In of itself was kind of like the world series.

37 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but they still had work to do against the rays. [SPEAKER_00]: I am glad that the Brewers won instead of the rays. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like the rays. [SPEAKER_00]: you know, they are the classic regular season team who never they get to the playoffs. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not great. [SPEAKER_00]: And some of this is because, you know, they don't have to pay a roll. [SPEAKER_00]: They're probably gonna get rid of half of their players again. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that, that's just the wash rinse repeat with them. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I like to see the Burroughs do it. [SPEAKER_00]: The Burroughs hadn't won a World Series in Milwaukee since 1957 and they were not the Burroughs at that time. [SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of people remember the early Robin yout team, and they just assumed that the brewers had won before, and they didn't.

24 [SPEAKER_00]: This is their first world series whenever, so congratulations to them. [SPEAKER_00]: And I saw a trio had 11 hits and five games, which is tremendous. [SPEAKER_00]: He sees such a young, a great player already at such a young age. [SPEAKER_00]: And I guess who was the MVP? [SPEAKER_00]: Contreras was the MVP? [SPEAKER_00]: He was, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, Kudos and adababes to the Milwaukee Brewers for winning the whole thing, man. [SPEAKER_00]: Good for them, they, they, [SPEAKER_00]: last year we gave them all the crap in the world for being the door mats to the Dodgers after the regular season they had in this year.

07 [SPEAKER_00]: They took them down and they won the whole thing. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's how you do it. [SPEAKER_00]: Good job. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's let's not also not forget that the terrible giants were four and three against the brewers this year. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's not forget that. [SPEAKER_01]: That's super important, [SPEAKER_00]: He had to do it to hang a banner for that one. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Winning record versus the world chance we're going to hang that one. [SPEAKER_01]: My what is your grab some pine yeah my grab some pine meat city of New Orleans love you Had a great time gonna be going back for sure But please please please please Regulate your street musicians There was some very good okay, so when you walk down the street if you're in the middle of the French Quarter and you're walking down the street [SPEAKER_01]: middle of the day.

53 [SPEAKER_01]: You can come across a six or seven piece brass band with a drummer tearing it up. [SPEAKER_01]: Beautiful jazz. [SPEAKER_01]: These guys should be in a nightclub. [SPEAKER_01]: You can go down the street turn the corner, you get a three-pieceer, acoustic guitar, washboard, they are playing some great tunes. [SPEAKER_01]: We went to the Touristie Cafe Dumont to get some bengayes, because the wife is like, well, there's other better bengay places, but when it's our first time here, you gotta do it. [SPEAKER_01]: You gotta go there, you gotta get a Cafe Ola also. [SPEAKER_01]: So we went there, there was a dude out there, not playing an instrument, they had a very gigantic speaker and he was doing karaoke.

38 [SPEAKER_01]: And he sounded like he swallowed some razor blades before he went on how to tough night before out of the way. [SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't tone low. [SPEAKER_00]: Who was that? [SPEAKER_01]: It was no. [SPEAKER_01]: It was tone deaf. [SPEAKER_01]: It was out there. [SPEAKER_01]: And so you're sitting there eating your bengays. [SPEAKER_01]: Cafe Dumans, soaking it in. [SPEAKER_01]: You're expecting like, oh, maybe we will get some jazz over the speakers or Banda. [SPEAKER_01]: This guy was. [SPEAKER_01]: shredding Whitney Houston, and then he shredded the Aladdin song, whole new world. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was people. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what was going on, but it was awful. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you had a couple of those guys doing that here and there, but then you had other guys.

19 [SPEAKER_01]: right in their bike down the middle of one of the streets, you know, he's got a speaker in tow blasting some nice funk music and then he would stop and then people would just come off to the sidewalk and go over and start dancing. [SPEAKER_01]: He throw a dance party, throw out the dance car and then and that was fun. [SPEAKER_01]: I had a good time with that. [SPEAKER_01]: But please regulate, grab some pine meat on that dude playing out in front of Cafe Dumont. [SPEAKER_01]: Please regulate your, your street musicians and make it so that they can only play instruments. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe audition, maybe send it to tape before they get a license to do that. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know what, maybe maybe, can we know Mike Kruko, yeah, it's retired as a Giants color commentator.

02 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, maybe what you do. [SPEAKER_00]: is you have crook and kipe, take like Instagram videos. [SPEAKER_00]: and just do commentary on those videos. [SPEAKER_01]: I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: And then it goes back to the city of New Orleans and they get to thumbs down and say, well, that guy cannot play anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: He's out and he's gone. [SPEAKER_01]: He's grabbing spine meat. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a good idea. [SPEAKER_01]: We should pitch that. [SPEAKER_00]: My grab some spine meat is on a serious note. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is no shot at this player. [SPEAKER_00]: But just what happened today is a Tristan Beck was given his unconditional waivers.

42 [SPEAKER_00]: the Giants and this will dovetail into our conversation about the Giants and their 40 men. [SPEAKER_00]: If the Giants didn't have all of these guys who are hurt, he probably want to keep him around, but he was a guy who they had to make a tough decision. [SPEAKER_00]: They've so many injured players and I'm actually going to go through their 40, their current 40 man right now. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and we can kind of go through them through that and see who they did keep. [SPEAKER_01]: It's an interesting 40 man right now. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and Tristan Beck was one of the guys who they had to let go. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, Jose Buto claimed by the the Rangers, Dunkin David by the Reds, Brett Harris and Shay Whit come by the fillies, Zach Morgan by the Orioles.

28 [SPEAKER_00]: uh, Joel Kunal, uh, Konell and Seth Lansway were outrided to AAA, Nate Furman traded to the nationals, and I think, uh, Grant McCray, uh, also claimed last week by Seattle, um, Matt Gage Jason Foley, Bassabe, they were all outrided. [SPEAKER_00]: The news also outrided. [SPEAKER_00]: So lots, there was lots of stuff that happened with this team. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so, uh, and then I guess just earlier right like not too long before we recorded the latest one was, uh, they deified, uh, uh, rave or send Martin to get to, to 40.

12 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so here are the people, here are the players who are on their 40. [SPEAKER_00]: So for pictures, Hayden Birdsong, Camila Deval, Trent [SPEAKER_00]: Adrian Hauser, Union Marte, Trevor McDonald, Miguel Mendez, who is the youngster that they traded for. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, Anthony Molina, we saw him, uh, a decent amount, uh, Joel Pagaro says our Perdomo Randy Rodriguez, who is on his way back. [SPEAKER_00]: He's actually pitching in the Arizona fall league right now. [SPEAKER_00]: And I saw that he got as fast well to 98. [SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully he can come back and I assume he will probably be the the default closer next year, unless something happens, but good to see Randy back.

03 [SPEAKER_00]: land in root Carson Seymour Dylan Smith blade Ted will Ryan Walker man that's that's when you got a positive that's one that I was like buto gone yet Walker here uh... Logan web [SPEAKER_00]: Carson was in hunt, Rowan Wick, who they, I think they had and there's something about his option, his club option was declined, but he remains on the roster because he is horrible and he spent the whole season last year rehabbing. [SPEAKER_00]: Matt will consider the tugger and Keaton win.

44 [SPEAKER_00]: So those are your pictures. [SPEAKER_00]: You're catchers, Drew Cavanaugh. [SPEAKER_00]: He's too short, Drew gets Daniel Sue's second. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's any surprises there. [SPEAKER_00]: A Domest Chapman, Devers, Coss, Marcelo Mayer, your infillers, your outfielders, Harrison Bader, Scott Bendura, Victor Barracoto, Jonah Cox, Bill David's Andrew Gilbert Turner Hill. [SPEAKER_00]: Was also an interesting one. [SPEAKER_00]: Junghulie, Casey Schmidt, and Bryce Elders. [SPEAKER_00]: And I guess you know, Turner, [SPEAKER_00]: He hit well enough, I guess, to where you keep him around. [SPEAKER_00]: But he is an older player. [SPEAKER_00]: He's 27, and still kind of toggling between the miners and the major.

24 [SPEAKER_00]: So that is their 40, and then upcoming, as if there wasn't more work to do. [SPEAKER_00]: Upcoming is the role 5 draft. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's in a couple of weeks, I think, and they're going to have to figure out who to protect, and if you protect somebody, then you're going to have to do some more roster organization there, so any other thoughts outside of Ryan Walker. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, not necessarily the catcher position. [SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of a tough one. [SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of, I feel like that's Su-Sax job.

08 [SPEAKER_01]: But he's going to have to split times. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll kind of see how that goes. [SPEAKER_01]: There's been rumors of, [SPEAKER_01]: Brandon Lau possibly had a great season with the pirates and he's going to be a free agent that possibly could sign with the giants in order to do that I think a Domus or Chapman have to go. [SPEAKER_01]: outfield wise grant McCray being gone. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's you have so many outfielders on the foreman. [SPEAKER_01]: That was kind of a given because you've got, I mean, both Davidson was on the 40 man. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: He's going to get a shot, Barracoto showed enough to get a shot, hear some painters, probably going to be gone, you know, however that ends up playing out.

59 [SPEAKER_01]: But no, I think that was kind of [SPEAKER_01]: The greatest reliever on the planet, we've let him go. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think he showed more, even though he was injured quite a bit last year, I don't think he only pitched in in like two or three and he's, but I think he showed more promise than Ryan Walker has, certainly over the last year and a half. [SPEAKER_01]: since we got him in the trade back in July of 25 right? [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the only one that that's kind of a headscratcher, but I also see Buto being gone as a sign that I think they probably want to stick with Doval and give him another shot and give him that 7 million in Arb some more around there.

44 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's the predicted number. [SPEAKER_01]: And give him a shot so we could be seeing Randy Rodriguez and Camilla devol in the back end again But again, I don't think Devol is a back-end guy right now I think he's more of a seven-ending guy and that's kind of what Bouto was So I think I think they're probably looking at that and saying well, you know, we're gonna give Devol that shot [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it is an interesting 40 man as in it's not stacked, right? [SPEAKER_01]: It's certainly packed, but it's not stacked. [SPEAKER_01]: So I think they still have a lot of work to do. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so guys who they are going to have to make decisions on as far as rule five is concerned.

24 [SPEAKER_00]: Now I'll mention the first four guys who are part of the giant's top 30 prospects [SPEAKER_00]: Joe Whitman, left handed pitcher, Henry Lillani, left handed pitcher who they just traded for Luis Delitorre, left handed pitcher and Jancel Villa Royale, who is a catcher. [SPEAKER_00]: So those guys are on the current MLB pipeline top 30 for the giant. [SPEAKER_00]: So those are four players. [SPEAKER_00]: They also have Marty [SPEAKER_00]: That sounds like a created player, and then I'll be the show.

07 [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Two exes. [SPEAKER_00]: This man has two exes in his name. [SPEAKER_00]: And Marcus Johnson, former NBA player, Spencer Miles. [SPEAKER_00]: So those are the guys that Giants are going to have to make some decisions on. [SPEAKER_00]: I have no idea how many of those that they'll protect because for every player they will they protect, then they have to continue to cut down from their current 40 men. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so there you go, a lot of there, I mean, that that just all solidifies how much work there is to do. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you're going to compete and you're going to try to sneak into one of the final wildcard spots, because you know, this is not a division winning team.

49 [SPEAKER_01]: Dodgers the way they are. [SPEAKER_01]: Diamondbacks and podries competing you're after year. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be hard to take that division. [SPEAKER_01]: But if you can sneak into a wild card spot, there's a lot of work. [SPEAKER_01]: And we know this going into the off season and going into the possible CBA. [SPEAKER_01]: problems in the lock out. [SPEAKER_01]: This team's got to get starting pitching. [SPEAKER_01]: This team's got to get, I mean, look at the 40 man. [SPEAKER_01]: This team needs starting pitching. [SPEAKER_01]: This team needs bullpen work. [SPEAKER_01]: This team needs left fielder who can hit 30 hook 40 home runs. [SPEAKER_01]: This team needs [SPEAKER_01]: I hate to say it, but probably an infielder because or a huge bounce back from William Thomas and Matt Chapman.

32 [SPEAKER_01]: So there's a lot of work that needs to be done. [SPEAKER_01]: Health is what this team needs also. [SPEAKER_00]: If you heard the episode that we did last week on Giants versus Dodgers, my buddy, Draven, [SPEAKER_00]: uh... he asked me on the air he's like what could the giants do to get back into consideration here and that pockets that we did i really enjoyed it because it was like a very honest look at both teams you know the dodgers [SPEAKER_00]: They got back there and I, you know, I think most Dodgers fans feel like they were probably still the second best team in baseball behind the brewers. [SPEAKER_00]: They just couldn't get over that hump. [SPEAKER_00]: But they have decisions on what they need to do.

13 [SPEAKER_00]: Those who knows, they may just be able to refuel depending on what happens this offseason. [SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, they have decisions too, because they have such an old roster. [SPEAKER_00]: But I didn't, I don't think there's one thing the giants can do to get back into competition. [SPEAKER_00]: Some things are just going to have to go right [SPEAKER_00]: some of the guys who did not hit last year are just going to have to hit. [SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to have some of these guys who fit in and played decently well like Drew Gilbert kind of take it to the next level. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what his next level is. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Bryce Eldridge. [SPEAKER_00]: He's going to have to avoid the soft, more slump.

56 [SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to pick up another pitcher, though. [SPEAKER_00]: That pitching staff, like it looks like garbage. [SPEAKER_01]: Like outside of Logan Webb, it really looks bad. [SPEAKER_01]: It's tough, man. [SPEAKER_01]: It's really tough because, you know, you look at what Buster and Gang did last year and tried to have a five-man rotation [SPEAKER_01]: house or and mally and they thought, hey, we can solidify this, but but you then you ended up with all the Tommy John's and that's why I said, you know, you got to have health on top of everything else because you can go out and sign a guy for one year, right, and that's fine, but then if you're young guys are getting Tommy John and blowing out their arms, you've got to have a backup plan and that's kind of, I think what they did.

49 [SPEAKER_01]: in the draft this year and a year before and in trades the year before in this year as well. [SPEAKER_01]: They went starting pitching, starting pitching, starting pitching, starting pitching. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we could see, we could see Jackson Flora. [SPEAKER_01]: midseason next year. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's not out of the question. [SPEAKER_01]: He finished up in single A. I think he's going to get a start there at least, um, who maybe find himself in double A, because then he, I think he pitched even for Richmond, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, in a playoff game. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, and he did well. [SPEAKER_01]: So I, I don't think they're going to push him into double A, but, but those are the guys we're talking about. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, he's he's going to have to have a, a linsicum like [SPEAKER_00]: There's a delete.

33 [SPEAKER_00]: There's a little bit of links to come in there based on his kind of his body type and his movement and such. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: And then and and so a couple the last podcast we did I was frustrated right I said this is a rudderless ship because we had we didn't just finish listening to that fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: postseason, or after season, post more press conference, which I don't know what it was. [SPEAKER_01]: But I said it's a rudderless ship, but I always lose track of and forget about [SPEAKER_01]: The fact that this is really a rebuilding team, but you just don't. [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody wants to say it out loud in the giant's organization, that they don't want to say, because that scares people buying tickets if you say, hey, we're rebuilding.

22 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's not going to put Blatton seeds, but when you look at the minor league system, you go, okay, I see the plan. [SPEAKER_01]: I see the pitching heavy plan. [SPEAKER_01]: I see the contact hitter heavy plan. [SPEAKER_01]: But what's the backup plan? [SPEAKER_01]: You got to have an A and a B. [SPEAKER_01]: You see that all the time going into free agency. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got your A plan and the giants have stumbled on their A plan for years. [SPEAKER_01]: That's just kind of the way it's gone except for William Thomas. [SPEAKER_01]: You just had to pay him a lot to be your A plan. [SPEAKER_01]: But what's your B plan when it comes to the minor league system and and and putting together a 40 man roster in years 27 and 28 and 29?

07 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's kind of the key and I don't know what that is right now because it's it's paying Chapman a lot of money. [SPEAKER_01]: It's paying a Domest lot of money. [SPEAKER_01]: It's paying divers a lot of money and if we get the same divers we had this year, okay, but a Domus and Chapman seemed to kind of be fading. [SPEAKER_01]: So what is Plan B, other than just rebuild and bring up the young guys? [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it's kind of tough right now. [SPEAKER_01]: But I wouldn't say, I'll retract my statement. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a rudderless ship. [SPEAKER_01]: I get the plan, but I think I'd like more clear communication. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Buster said, what did he say the other day of this team needs to get better with their pitching staff and stuff?

50 [SPEAKER_01]: That's great. [SPEAKER_01]: What's the plan? [SPEAKER_01]: And I know that they sheltered around some of the pitching coaches and some of the pitching hierarchy so that just a message His words are more clear to the pitching staff. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there was a lot of talk about [SPEAKER_00]: the communication channels and all of those things. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is good. [SPEAKER_01]: Clear up the communication, put it, I don't know, but a translator on Tony Vitello for all. [SPEAKER_01]: Right, no. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what Daniel is saying at. [SPEAKER_00]: Communicator, at least to the public. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like I said, I love Biggie and Jay-Z, but when you're constantly quoting them, I just don't.

33 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where that gets us as baseball team. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, it could get the people keep coming as if busters like, hey, guys, uh, putting the shin guards back on. [SPEAKER_00]: It's been five years. [SPEAKER_01]: Me and Suesak are gonna team up and do this. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, hey, if Buster went out there, the guy could probably still break. [SPEAKER_01]: He could probably still hit 280. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he could run into about five home runs a year and things. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so there is a, I wanted to mention this because I know and Andrew Baggly wrote about this. [SPEAKER_00]: I think today. [SPEAKER_00]: So, um, Bochi and Dusty Baker, [SPEAKER_00]: are among eight candidates that the baseball Hall of Fame contemporary baseball Hall of Fame's contemporary baseball era committee will consider in December for next year's induction class in Cooperstown.

31 [SPEAKER_00]: They're also joined by Brian Sabian. [SPEAKER_00]: Who I think just left the Yankees, I know. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they didn't re-up them. [SPEAKER_01]: I think he had a contract and they had an option and they just didn't go with it. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a possibility that Buster Posey, Bruce Bogey, and Dusty Baker could all go into the same class of the MLB Hall of Fame, which would be tremendous. [SPEAKER_00]: It would also take your eye off the current team, a little bit, we can live in our nostalgia. [SPEAKER_00]: And on that giant's and Dodgers podcast, we were talking a little bit about Vatelo [SPEAKER_00]: he was like, driving was just like, that guy's a joke, like, how do you guys employ him?

26 [SPEAKER_00]: Like, he just seems like he has no idea what he's doing. [SPEAKER_00]: That's like sometimes it does feel that way. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, it does. [SPEAKER_00]: But he was like, you know, when us Dodgers fans kind of look over in the other dugout and we see Vatelo, we just go, yeah, whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, we have one of the best managers in baseball and you guys have this like college manager. [SPEAKER_00]: he's like, it's not, it wasn't like when we would look over on the other side and boachie was there. [SPEAKER_00]: That's for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's intimidating to see boachie. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So you knew that if it came down to it in the 8th or 9th inning, like there was going to be a very strategic game of chess to be played. [SPEAKER_00]: And with Vatelo, it's like the guys play an old maid or something.

11 [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, it would be kind of crazy, right? [SPEAKER_00]: If it's Bochi and Dusty and it sounds, yeah, I think they have to get 75% of the vote over the vote. [SPEAKER_00]: I would imagine Bochi's a shoe in. [SPEAKER_00]: I got to imagine Dusty's got to be close. [SPEAKER_00]: Like he did get his world series. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you want a world series? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's got, you know, he took the giants to one, which they lost. [SPEAKER_00]: He was the first year manager in that 93 team that won over 100 games. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, you got to think he's got a good shot, but Bochi, Dusty, [SPEAKER_00]: Buster, those are some cool names for the Hall of Fame. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so Dusty is eighth all time on the managerial win list and he's got a world series.

59 [SPEAKER_01]: And he's number one for, you know, and all managers who are African-American. [SPEAKER_00]: So you think he's a lock? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, him and Bogy, I think he's a locks. [SPEAKER_00]: That's got to happen. [SPEAKER_00]: But, [SPEAKER_01]: Pretty exciting. [SPEAKER_01]: We get two of our managers in the Hall of Fame coming up here and Sabian, maybe, I mean, you know, as an architect, as a GM, he was there for all three, right? [SPEAKER_01]: So, I think that's a chewing. [SPEAKER_00]: So the other guys on the ballot, Sandy Alderson, [SPEAKER_00]: Joe Madden, Lupinella in Ted Turner, as well as former nationally president Bill White or the other candidates.

46 [SPEAKER_01]: So I think Bill White's going into. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so I guess the last couple things to talk about here. [SPEAKER_01]: free agency started today, I think, but yeah, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, I don't think I don't think anything's going to happen. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So you don't think before any lockout or like you don't think any free agencies are any free agents signings are going to happen. [SPEAKER_01]: Let me, let me see, free agencies start. [SPEAKER_01]: Did it actually this five days [SPEAKER_01]: Is that today? [SPEAKER_01]: Cali.

26 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't imagine any big deals are going to happen. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, would you be shocked if [SPEAKER_00]: if scoobled sign like a 10 year deal, somebody before the lockout, I don't, it would probably only be like one or two teams who would not be worried about their finances for next year if there was no idea. [SPEAKER_01]: That would have to be it because how does that work into it? [SPEAKER_01]: If he signs a gigantic, let's say he signs a gigantic deal with the giants, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And that pushes them over the threshold, but then in the CBA, that changes. [SPEAKER_01]: And now you've got a salary cap and that cap is lower than what the threshold was.

14 [SPEAKER_01]: I can't see anybody. [SPEAKER_01]: I can see some guys sign up for one year here there, you know. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it have to be the Dodgers. [SPEAKER_00]: The Dodgers are probably the only team that doesn't care that much about those penalties that you would have to pay. [SPEAKER_00]: But then if you're the Dodgers, your leverage with school is [SPEAKER_00]: We're the only ones who are courageous enough to talk to you right now. [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, you know, do you want to get something done soon, you know, we'll have to strike a, you know, strike a good deal for both of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that may be their leverage. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you might be right. [SPEAKER_00]: There might be nothing that could happen.

54 [SPEAKER_00]: I know, aren't there. [SPEAKER_00]: Are we in for the Dodgers revenge tour? [SPEAKER_01]: Is that what's going on? [SPEAKER_00]: I sort of felt like they played it this year like it was their revenge tour. [SPEAKER_00]: They, you know, they grabbed Kyle Tucker who was hanging out and he didn't really work out for them too much, but I think now they're even more pissed off. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, they should be pissed off at is, uh, well, maybe they don't have to be pissed off, but you know what they really need to figure out is this old Tony situation. [SPEAKER_00]: Moments to wants to pinch.

35 [SPEAKER_00]: He's like, I'm pitching. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he still wants a pitch and his arm is busted up and he hasn't pitched like how many I don't know how many Indians he had this season, but I had to be under 100, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, I think I want to see he was over 100. [SPEAKER_01]: Was he over 100? [SPEAKER_01]: I think so because yeah, he started a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, you're right. [SPEAKER_01]: He only had 85 85. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think because I think he started late. [SPEAKER_01]: He didn't start pitching for another like. [SPEAKER_01]: Like a month into the season and then they shut them down, pitching wise, and 1.79 ERA in 85 winnings. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's, I'll take it, you know, if we can get somebody to pitch 85 in interest and and have a 1.790RA, I mean, that's good for good, you know, probably five wins, right?

23 [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, there were eight players who received qualifying offers today, meaning, uh, [SPEAKER_00]: If they were to sign it, it would be a one year 23.15 million dollar deal for next year. [SPEAKER_00]: Those players were Rosarena from the Mariners who had a really strong season, even though he is getting a little bit up there in age, as far as his prime is concerned, Brandon Low from the Pirates, who I've seen his name show up on Giants lists. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I said Nathan Low. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm Brandon. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, there's also Nathan low out there who's like 175 years old.

04 [SPEAKER_01]: He's so old and he's still in the league that the Giants played against him in the 2010 World Series. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow, he's been around. [SPEAKER_00]: Sias Suzuki who was wife supposedly doesn't like San Francisco very much. [SPEAKER_00]: No, hopefully that's changed. [SPEAKER_00]: He hits bombs and he has improved his fielding. [SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Rogers from the Orioles on that list as well. [SPEAKER_00]: Jake Bowers, who I think is he the one who the Milwaukee manager was like, you know, get ready to sign a big deal with the Yankees or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: Did you see that clip? [SPEAKER_01]: I think so. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's him.

45 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So your NLCS MVP. [SPEAKER_00]: More a home from the podries. [SPEAKER_00]: That's a wild contract for a left-handed reliever. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he could be a closer. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, he could be a closer somewhere else. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's the whole deal is he's not going to take it. [SPEAKER_01]: He's going to go somewhere else. [SPEAKER_01]: They get a draft pick, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, still the case. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's all. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's going to take that money. [SPEAKER_01]: But that being said. [SPEAKER_01]: In this season, if I were one of those guys, I would take that deal, just because of the just curiosity, if there's a season next.

28 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the impending doom, that that's why I would take that deal. [SPEAKER_01]: Because in your locked in, you have it, you're not a, you know, a middling free agent hanging out there and then all of a sudden [SPEAKER_01]: March when this thing clears up. [SPEAKER_01]: They're trying to find a team to go to and everyone is scrambling. [SPEAKER_01]: They're getting less money than you would have got. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I would take that deal because in your locked in once the the lock out lifts. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got your one year 23 million but. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, as Ryan Jeffers from the twins was the last guy. [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So, basically what happens is they haven't till the 17th to accept the deal.

09 [SPEAKER_00]: And if they accept the deal, they're, so when you're 20, you're million dollar deal, those who don't accept remain free agents. [SPEAKER_00]: And if a new team signs them, their old team receives draft pick compensation. [SPEAKER_01]: There you go. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, uh, since the system was implemented in 2012, 18 players to receive a qualifying offer have accepted it was jock Peterson one of those players. [SPEAKER_01]: He was, I don't remember if it was for us. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was, right? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm looking this up.

49 [SPEAKER_00]: Jack Peterson Giants 2022. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what it was. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: 19.65 million dollar qualifying offer. [SPEAKER_00]: He accepted for the Giants. [SPEAKER_01]: Was that the loss of Brandon belt? [SPEAKER_01]: 2021, Brandon belt. [SPEAKER_01]: And that was that wasn't the short lock out year, right? [SPEAKER_00]: 2021. [SPEAKER_00]: No, 2020 was the lock out year. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And that was [SPEAKER_00]: the like it was the first year that we actually had a game was the first second year we actually had games I don't remember. [SPEAKER_01]: 21 we had a full season but I thought that one started late.

31 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't remember. [SPEAKER_00]: Kevin Gosman also with the giants accepted the qualifying efforts to try to bet three of these guys. [SPEAKER_00]: Three of the 18. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all the giants. [SPEAKER_01]: That's incredible. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, 2021 started on time. [SPEAKER_01]: There was one see I know maybe there's 20 20 I know it started late because of the COVID, but then it started even later because then they were negotiating how many games They were going to play and all the other stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, yeah, we were we were I remember we we brought on Who's the the writer from around the fog horn? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh? [SPEAKER_00]: Right Jeff Jeff. [SPEAKER_00]: What's Jeff's loss name?

14 [SPEAKER_00]: kind of like very soon in my mind, kind of embarrassed that we don't have. [SPEAKER_00]: But Jeff Young, young, that was a very long time ago. [SPEAKER_00]: Jeff Young, Jeff Young, with us to talk about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so yeah, we'll have some on and off shows this postseason. [SPEAKER_00]: We won't force it. [SPEAKER_00]: If there's stuff to talk about, we'll talk about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like especially when the, um, [SPEAKER_00]: when they'll have to figure out the rule five stuff, but we'll kind of play it by ear as far as how many shows we do during this off season, especially like right now, but hey, if something happens in free agency before this lockout, then we'll we're definitely coming back.

56 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one one thing we won't do is come on and do a show during the lockout to talk about negotiations. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we'll have to do one, but we won't do the same show every night. [SPEAKER_01]: Because you could pretty much find that anywhere I'm sure dirty. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, did you see Bryce Harper's Instagram posts? [SPEAKER_00]: I did not. [SPEAKER_00]: Unless these were faked, there were Instagram replies of Bryce Harper saying that he's taken the summer off for something because he expects no baseball. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: The whole year. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about that. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, man. [SPEAKER_00]: He's the one who told Manfred F. Off.

36 [SPEAKER_00]: Remember? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I get it. [SPEAKER_01]: But man, I know the players also want to make sure the fans stick around to, you know, because trying to build a, you're going to lose a lot of people. [SPEAKER_01]: If you lock out the entire season or, you know, 50% of the season and play a short season, [SPEAKER_01]: Another 20, 20 Mickey Mouse World Series. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: At the Dodgersman. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, you need to get a lot of 80 people. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, this is the second time in our history of doing this show where we've kind of dealt with this curiosity with the off season. [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, for sure.

18 [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: That is it from here. [SPEAKER_00]: For Brad, I am double G and we will see you when we see you, peace out. [SPEAKER_00]: Peace.
