In this episode of Podhalla — the Golden State Valkyries podcast on BSPN — Garrett Gonzales and Brian Gonzales hand the Valkyries a B for their quarter-season performance, break down what's keeping them from the Las Vegas Aces and Minnesota Lynx, and dig into why Juste Jocyte's minutes matter. Special guest reporter Conrado Pascual joins to share his exclusive interview with Juste from WarriorsWorld — the San Francisco fan event that gave Bay Area fans their first close-up look at the Valkyries' newest star.

Last Time Out

Valkyries: Golden State snapped a two-game skid Tuesday, defeating the Phoenix Mercury 87-81 in Commissioner's Cup play at Chase Center. Veronica Burton exploded for 25 points — 19 in the first half — and added eight assists, while Gabby Williams matched her with 25 of her own. The Valkyries shot 57.1% in the first half to build an 18-point lead, then held on through a late Phoenix surge to close it out.

Storm: Seattle fell to the Los Angeles Sparks 88-83 on June 10, extending its losing streak to eight games. Nneka Ogwumike dropped a season-high 24 points against her former team and Kelsey Plum added 19 points and 11 assists to close it out. All five Storm starters scored in double figures — Natisha Hiedeman led with 16, Dominique Malonga added 15, and Flau'jae Johnson chipped in 14 — but Seattle couldn't hold on, falling to 3-11.

Gabby Williams Returns to Seattle — and She's Thriving

Gabby Williams spent years in Seattle before joining the Valkyries, and tonight she heads back to Climate Pledge Arena in the best form of her season. Williams was unstoppable Tuesday against Phoenix, matching Veronica Burton's 25-point output and giving Golden State a devastating scoring tandem. The Storm, missing their starting center Ezi Magbegor (right foot injury, out 6-8 weeks), are short-handed in the frontcourt — and Williams has the size and versatility to take full advantage.

Latest News

Ezi Magbegor (Storm, C) — OUT. Seattle's starting center has been ruled out with a right foot injury suffered during the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers. She remains sidelined with no firm return date beyond the initial 6-8 week window.

Flau'jae Johnson (Storm, G) — Rookie to Watch. The eighth overall pick — originally drafted by Golden State before being traded to Seattle — has been one of the bright spots in an otherwise difficult Storm season. Johnson ranks third among all rookies in scoring at 11.6 PPG and leads all rookies in blocks (1.2 BPG). Expect her to bring extra motivation in this matchup against her original draft team.
