Three of Krukow's children sang the national anthem before the finale, the team and city gave him the keys to San Francisco, and the 27th plaque on the Oracle Park portwalk will honor his and Kuiper's final broadcast together. Brad and Garrett reflect on what Kruk and Kuip meant to them this year — in a season of genuinely awful baseball, having those two in the booth every night was one of the few constants worth tuning in for.
To honor him properly, they debut a brand-new segment that'll be a permanent part of the show next year: "Atta Babe/Grab Some Pine, Meat" — built around two of Krukow's signature calls — where they'll hand out weekly praise and torment to Giants players, prospects, and storylines.
They also process the pain of dropping all three games of the season-ending series to the Dodgers at home — 2-0, 4-3, and 5-1 — a deflating way to close out the year in front of the home crowd. To wrap it up, they preview this week's Wild Card Series matchups around the league: White Sox at Astros, Red Sox at Yankees, Phillies at Braves, and Cubs at Padres, all set to begin Tuesday.
