In this clip from Podhalla — the Golden State Valkyries podcast on BSPN — Garrett Gonzales, Brian Gonzales, and reporter Conrado Pascual compare the Golden State Valkyries to the best teams in the WNBA: the Las Vegas Aces and the Minnesota Lynx. The crew breaks down the talent gap, what the Valkyries are doing well, and exactly what they'd need to close the distance against the league's elite.

Last Time Out

Valkyries: Golden State bounced back in a big way on June 12, defeating the Seattle Storm 76-72 on the road. Janelle Salaun was the standout, dropping 22 points on five three-pointers, while Gabby Williams contributed 19 to seal the win.

Sparks: The Sparks beat Phoenix in a barnburner, 111-102 led by Kelsey Plum's 43 points. Kahleah Copper had 41 of her own, but it wasn't enough for the Mercury.

The Sparks' Star Trio vs. Golden State's Defense

The storyline to watch Monday is whether the Valkyries can contain LA's three-headed offensive attack. Kelsey Plum is averaging a scorching 26.6 points per game, making her one of the most dangerous scorers in the league. Add Nneka Ogwumike's versatility and Hamby's ability to dominate the glass, and Golden State's defense — third-best in the WNBA at 80.1 points allowed per game — will be seriously tested. Golden State has the personnel to match up, but Plum in particular will demand a complete defensive effort.

Tip-off is at 7:00 PM PT. Tune in on Peacock, KPIX, or 95.7 The Game.
