Last Time Out

Valkyries: Golden State fell 87-84 to the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday night at Target Center in their second Commissioner's Cup game. Cecilia Zandalasini had a chance to tie it but her three-point attempt at the buzzer fell short. Zandalasini led the Valkyries with a season-high 18 points, while Janelle Salaün (17 PTS, five 3-pointers) and Tiffany Hayes (15 PTS) combined for 32 of the team's 37 bench points.

Aces: Las Vegas won their first Commissioner's Cup game behind a dominant performance from A'ja Wilson, who dropped 25 points and hauled in 15 rebounds against the Los Angeles Sparks. The Aces also took the most recent meeting between these two teams — a 91-81 win over Golden State at Chase Center on May 31.

Salaün vs. Wilson: The Bench Ace Meets the League's Best

Janelle Salaün has quietly become one of the most dangerous scorers in the WNBA — and she does it off the bench. The Valkyries' leading scorer (14.2 PPG) is shooting 40.3% from deep and has now tied her season high with five made threes in a single game. On the other sideline, A'ja Wilson is being her dominant self both offensively and defensively, looking every bit of the MVP of the entire league.

Latest News

Injuries: The Aces could be shorthanded — Jewell Loyd (left leg) is listed as questionable and could miss her first game of the season, and Dana Evans (left leg) remains out with no timetable for return. For Golden State, center Iliana Rupert is the only player out, as she is sitting out the remainder of the season due to her pregnancy. The rest of the Valkyries' roster is healthy.

Commissioner's Cup context: This is a critical Cup game for Golden State. A win keeps them in contention to represent the Western Conference in the Cup Final; a loss with Minnesota (2-0) pulling further ahead could make the math very difficult. The Aces, meanwhile, are looking to build momentum as the defending champions.
